HISTORY

The Greater Grace Fellowship, Mumbai was pioneered by a missionary team sent out by the Greater Grace World Outreach (GGWO), USA, to India in 1984.

In those early days of pioneering, this missionary team, mostly young graduates of Stevens School of the Bible, went about faithfully witnessing on the streets of Mumbai making contacts and conducting Home Bible studies.

In those early pioneer days, the missionary team led by Pastor Joseph Swiader and other young Bible College graduates, went about faithfully witnessing on the streets of Mumbai, sharing the message of God’s love and conducting home Bible studies. From these Bible studies emerged a core group of fervent disciples with a hunger for God’s Word and a burden for the lost. Another key pioneer missionary was Pastor Glen Cannon. He lovingly served the disciples in GGF, Mumbai, for four years.

The church in Mumbai is deeply grateful to both Pastor Joseph Swiader and Pastor Glen Canon for their anointed Bible teaching, love for people and investment in many lives. In 1988, a small, but faithful church of Indian disciples had been formed. Some of these young men and women took decisions to go on to the Maryland Bible College and Seminary for training in Church Ministry. In 1990, Pastor Karl Silva, after his training at the MBC& S, USA, returned to India to oversee the Greater Grace Fellowship of Mumbai, of which he is the Senior Pastor, today.
